There has been a fundamental shift in how stories of sexual misconduct and harassment are reported. The media have long been reluctant to report these allegations — and, some would say — complicit in covering up the abuse of power by men in privileged position. The Harvey Weinstein story was a tipping point. Now, media outlets are routinely reporting credible allegations where multiple victims demonstrate a pattern of misconduct — unwanted advances, quid pro quo harassment and worse — and the reporting suggests that this is truly pervasive.
