The American Bar Association’s 11th hour attack of Lawrence VanDyke is another disturbing moment brought to you by the Left, originating on Capitol Hill.
It’s important to reiterate the words that Senator Cruz spoke during the hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. He said it’s laughable and ludicrous that the ABA would say that VanDyke was not worthy.
VanDyke was not only the Solicitor General of Montana, he was also Solicitor General of Nevada. There was a light moment during the hearings when Sen. Cruz noted that VanDyke has ‘one upped’ him by being Solicitor General of two states, unlike Cruz who had only been Solicitor General of Texas.
VanDyke went to Harvard Law School, he graduated with high honors, and he was the editor of the Harvard Law Review–which is a great honor. He practiced at one of the foremost law firms in Washington, DC, and he also clerked for Janice Rogers Brown who was a DC Circuit Appellate Judge.
It is outrageous, ridiculous and unfounded–totally lacking any evidence whatsoever–for the American Bar Association to say that VanDyke is not qualified.
So it is outrageous, ridiculous and unfounded–totally lacking any evidence whatsoever–for the American Bar Association to say that VanDyke is not qualified. I want to point out too that the ABA released this letter the night before the hearing, and VanDyke received it at 7 pm.
VanDyke said that the accusation are not reflective at all of the relationships that he’s built since he’s been practicing law. I was watching the hearing as it happened. There were many senators who talked about the people who had worked with VanDyke who thought he was an excellent lawyer–a superb lawyer, a superb advocate.
The moment during the hearings when the ABA was calling him a terrible smear and VanDyke broke down and became very emotional, shows how outrageous this whole process has become–it’s become so politicized.
I was on OAN’s Tipping Point with Liz Wheeler to discuss the Democrats attacking Trump’s judicial nominee.
