The fight to fill Justice Scalia’s seat is about nothing but raw power, and any appeal to high principle is transparently phony. Each side would be making the other side’s arguments if roles were reversed—and in fact they have (e.g, Sen Chuck Schumer in 2007 and then-Senator Barack Obama during Justice Alito’s confirmation process).
What’s notable in this power struggle is that the liberal mainstream media is flacking for the Democrat talking points. They write and say much about high principles, but it is all in the guise of seeking a liberal replacement for the towering champion of democracy and the Constitution, Justice Scalia.
I discussed all of this on Fox News’ MediaBuzz with Howard Kurtz and the Washington Post’s Ruth Marcus.
