The reporting of these terrible allegations about New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman that resulted in him resigning immediately is great journalism. It is so powerful. It shows the advantages of a press that is not afraid to challenge people in power, and it’s something that should be commended.
But then some in the media started deflecting this story to be about President Trump. It’s a classic case of “what about-ism” or the media couldn’t feel like they wanted to pursue the real story. These are shocking and appalling allegations. There are many questions that remain unanswered, especially who knew what and when they knew it.
Then we see the shift to something like this Washington Post article. The headline is “Trump, Schneiderman, Greitens: The Changing Shape of Sex Scandals.” So it completely changed from the important investigation that had been done, that needed to be continued and followed up on, to trying to tie-in Republicans, particularly President Trump.
I was on Fox News Media Buzz with Howard Kurtz to discuss.
